Buying a website is like having a roof placed on your home – the size of the roof, type of tile, number of workers, etc., will vary from one house to another. The same goes for your website – your needs may not be the same as a Fortune 500 company or the business next door.

We understand that a ballpark figure is often "good enough" for determining whether to proceed with evaluating a website designer.

The following static (non-e-commerce) website cost ranges are:

  • Microsites (3–5 pages) – $1,500 to $2,500
  • Small websites (6–10 pages) – $3,000 to $5,000
  • Medium websites (11–20 pages) – $5,500 to $10,000
  • Large websites (21–40 pages) – $10,500 to $20,000

For e-commerce websites, add 50% of the range to the cost.

Should a WordPress website be requested, divide the cost in half. However, factor in a monthly maintenance fee of $150 or $1,500 for a year in addition to the cost of the website.

Note: Costs DO NOT include web hosting, third-party subscriptions, etc.

Those $300 websites are often just templates with very little (if any) customization, offering a basic look and feel with no on-screen SEO or original graphics or text included. Monthly rates are mandatory, and they often look cheap and inefficient.

The $300 website designers? Their goal is to make money and nickel-and-dime you to death.

As a small business, we understand that budgets are tight. That's why we work with start-ups and small businesses to help make costs manageable. For projects under $2,500, we will charge 50% down and the rest over three months via Afterpay. For projects over $2,500, we charge 50% down and the rest over six months via Afterpay. Payments using Afterpay require an additional finance charge (which comes from Afterpay, not Blue Honu Design).

Note: Afterpay financing requires all payments to be made before ownership is assumed by the client.

If you have an existing website, we will review it before starting any redesign work. At Blue Honu Design, we believe that a thorough review of your current site and its content helps us understand your business needs and ensures the new site aligns with your future goals. Often, a reorganization of existing content, updated navigation, and fixing broken links are required as part of the redesign process.

The code running in the background will be rewritten to eliminate any deprecated (old) code, ensuring that today's and tomorrow's web browsers and search engines can load your website quickly and efficiently. Additionally, any security holes that may have appeared since you launched your old website will be removed.

At Blue Honu, we offer online business strategy, Google Business Profiles, brand identity (logo design), graphic design, SEO, content writing, social media management, and marketing services. Your website should be built using what we call IRM, or Integrated Relational Marketing. This means that, in addition to having a beautiful site that offers a top-notch user experience (UX), you'll have a presence on social media, digital, and traditional print media that complements your website and gives you that extra WOW when delivering your message and reaching your audience.

While Blue Honu Design does most of the work at our location in Las Vegas, we work with third parties, such as content writers and developers located in the United States. Like having a general contractor working on your home, we have relationships with specialists, allowing our designers to manage your project while working as part of the team.

Blue Honu Design will be your point of contact for your project, so you won't need to connect with anyone else. We will be your central point of contact, dedicated to managing your project at each step: research, strategy, design, development, launch, and review.

Your project is unique, and the project scope will vary from one client to the next.

As part of our proposal, we provide an estimated completion date based on the project scope we've outlined for you. Typically, as long as we receive the content (text, images, visual elements), we will be on time.

A standard static website that's hand-coded and less than 10 pages will take 60 days to complete.

To avoid scrambling for content, images, login information, or other essentials, it's crucial to discuss these needs at the beginning of the project. A range of materials varies for every project, depending on the services discussed and the project's scope.

Generally, you will provide all the written and visual content, and we at Blue Honu Design will use that content to create your site. If new or additional content is needed, we will offer recommendations and include it in the proposed project scope within your proposal.

At Blue Honu Design, our first choice is always to write the code and build your website without using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress or Wix.

CMS systems often require frequent security updates, which may not be available if the creator lacks support or ceases operations. These security holes can leave your website vulnerable to malicious attacks, putting both your business and your customers' information at risk.

By choosing a custom-built website from Blue Honu Design, you ensure that your site is built securely and can be easily moved to any web server.

Wix websites operate on a "closed" system, meaning you're stuck on their servers and beholden to them indefinitely.

We CAN offer WordPress website solutions if needed; however, these require a mandatory monthly maintenance charge. In contrast, our custom-built websites do not incur any monthly maintenance fees.

Yes. We use programming languages such as PHP, Angular, and React, which are used by millions of developers and designers worldwide. As a result, numerous solutions are available to us that will fit your project needs. These solutions are determined as part of the discovery process and factored into your project scope. Because of the widespread usage of these languages, updates are common, and the developer community responds quickly to any security issues that may arise.

WE ABHOR TEMPLATES. Your business is unique and should not look like the competition. Even when our clients request a WordPress website, we custom-design the look and feel and avoid templates when possible.

Our websites are built to function on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. We use Bootstrap as a base for our responsive code, as it's cross-browser compatible and a standard used by millions of designers and developers.

On-screen SEO is included in every website design project. However, continuous monitoring and tweaking are required to stay ahead of the competition. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing are constantly updating their listings, so if SEO is essential to your business, your website should continuously use SEO strategies like logical navigation, fresh, high-quality, helpful content, strategic page titles and meta descriptions, proper URL structure, correct heading text formatting, image optimization, alt tagging, mobile-friendliness, keyword research, and on-page SEO to help your site rank higher on Google and other search engines.

At Blue Honu Design, we establish checkpoints throughout the project so you can review and approve the work at each stage.

If the first draft version of your site doesn’t meet your expectations, simply request changes by providing constructive feedback. We aim to ensure the final product aligns with your vision.

Typically, we offer 2–3 rounds of revisions. If additional revisions are needed, they may be billed at an hourly rate until the changes are complete.

Our process is designed for small-to-medium-sized businesses with 1–3 main decision-makers. It is less suited for organizations with a board or multiple management approvals due to the complexity and potential for delays caused by too many decision-makers.

Our web hosting includes basic SSL certificates for every client. More intensive SSL certificates are available for an additional price, depending on the project scope.

You will own your website's design and any custom code written specifically for you. Should a third-party software solution be required that involves a subscription, you will be subject to their terms and services. Your project proposal and contract will outline these subscriptions, if any.

Yes. We use Section 508 guidelines and design for WCAG specifications when possible. Unfortunately, the color palettes in the brand guides of our clients are often not WCAG-compliant, which can cause issues. Should WCAG compliance be required, we will include that in the project scope.

As part of our beta testing process, we will perform rigorous testing to ensure compliance is achieved at the level outlined in the project scope.
